Sarah Baur is a student research assistant for Prof. Dr. Simone Pfenninger at the University of Zurich. She holds a BA in English Literature and Linguistics, which she completed with a thesis on rhoticity in northern England, titled "A Shibboleth Upon the Northumbrian Tongue: Rhoticity and the Northumbrian Burr in Rural Northern English". Sarah is currently completing her MA in General Linguistics at the University of Zurich.
Her research interests lie in areas such as sociophonetics, dialectology, and (second language) bilingualism. Furthermore, Sarah is interested in ongoing language change, especially in connection to digital natives and online spaces, as well as globalization and how continuous innovations in natural language processing affect our lives.
