Jelle Brouwer, Ph.D.
Radboud University
Postdoctoral Researcher
Jelle Brouwer finished his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Culture and his research master’s in Language and Cognition at the University of Groningen. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Groningen in Prof. Merel Keijzers’ Vidi project.
His work looks into third-age language learning as a potential innovative tool to promote healthy aging in healthy older adults and older adults with a history of depression. This latter group is particularly interesting since late-life depression is often associated with cognitive complaints that persist even after the remission of depressive symptoms. Therefore, this population may benefit especially from the cognitive stimulation of language intervention.
Jelle's research looks at a variety of outcomes, ranging from neuropsychological tasks to micro-variations in mood over time and qualitative interview data. In his free time, Jelle loves baking, cooking, and powerlifting.
