Linda Steiner is a student research assistant for Professor Dr. Simone Pfenninger at the University of Zurich. She holds a BA in English Literature and Linguistics, which she completed with a thesis on code switching with minimal bilingualism as a group marker titled "Code Switching in English Anime and Manga Fanspeak: A Study on the Usage of Japanese Honorifics in Fanfiction." Linda is currently studying for a Master's degree at the University of Zurich with a major in English Linguistics and a minor in Informatics.
Her research interests lie in areas such as computer mediated communication, code switching, and sociolinguistics. Linda is fascinated by the question of how language shapes communities and how communities in turn shape language, especially in connection with digital modes of expression and socialising.
